Johnny Castle (Bass, Vocals): Johnny is The Thrillbilly band leader and has played with some of the best bands in the DC area over the last 40 years. Some of those bands: Bill Kirchen and Too Much Fun, The Nighthawks, Switchblade featuring Eddie Angel (Los Straightjackets) Steuart Smith (Eagles, Rodney Crowell) and Ratso (Kinky Friedman), Tex Rubinowitz and the Bad Boys, Crank, and too many others to even think about listing.
David Kitchen (Vocals, Guitar): Dave is a published songwriter and has written and performed music for television and film (“Wild Iris”). He teaches guitar and produced American Song's debut CD. Dave has been nominated many times for Washington Area Music Association (WAMMIE) awards, including best Roots Rock Vocalist and Musician of the Year-2001. Robbie Magruder (Drums): Robbie is another long time veteran of the DC area. Robbie recorded and toured the world with Mary Chapin Carpenter for many years, and also toured and recorded with guitarist extraordinaire Roy Buchanon. Robbie has also played with Ruthie and The Wranglers, The Hanson Brothers, the Usual Suspects, and many others.
Andy Rutherford (Guitar, Vocals, Slide): Andy is another veteran sideman of the DC scene. He has played with Ruthie and The Wranglers, Little Pink, J.P. McDermott & Western Bop and Zydeco Crayz among others. Andy has been nominated for several WAMMIEs as well.

Friday July 15 - The Hula Monsters and The Nighthawks!
The Hula Monsters is basically a swing band with a Hawaiian Flavor. Their repertoire includes rockabilly, blues, country, jazz standards - All with the Hula Monster Hawaiian accent. At the many Swing Dances in the Washington DC area they tailor their sets to the dancers. It may be difficult to categorize their music but the common thread is "swingin' fun"! The Hula Monsters have won many "Wammies", the annual awards given by the Washington Area Music Association, including best world music group, best world music vocalist and many other awards in many other categories. Kenny Neal packed the Surf Club on his dynamic first appearance here a year ago. People are still talking about that show, don’t miss his return performance! Kenny Neal is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and is widely renowned as a modern swamp-blues master. His new release, Hooked On Your Love, follows the triumph of his multi-award winning 2008 comeback album, Let Life Flow. An outstanding success, the CD raked in the accolades: three prestigious Album Of The Year awards, two Song of The Year awards for the title track, and Kenny himself garnered two Artist of the Year honors.

Ronnie Baker Brooks makes his first ever appearance at the Surf Club and its sure to be one to remember! When he debuted with GOLDDIGGER in 1998, much of the blues world was already familiar with Ronnie Baker Brooks via his long apprenticeship as bandleader for living legend patriarch, Lonnie Brooks. His primal effort helped him earn a WC Handy Award nomination for “Best New Blues Artist” and enough encouragement from fans and media to light the runway for takeoff of a successful solo career.
